| 2008 Chrysler Aspen |
| Overview |
For 2008, Chrysler has introduced changes in the Aspen, which can be termed as nothing short of revolutionary. This hybrid sport utility vehicle has a new 5.7-liter engine, the Hemi hybrid with a multi-displacement system (MDS), which Chrysler claims offers more than 25 percent overall improved fuel efficiency, including as much as 40 percent improvement in city riding. Most of the other striking changes have been carried out only on the Signature Series. |
| Power and Performance |
The 2008 Aspen offers a choice of two engines: the 4.7-liter flex fuel V-8, which is equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission; and the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8. Both engines offer a best-in-class 303 horsepower. |
| Styling |
The exterior has a power sunroof and comes in a choice of six colors. The 2008 Chrysler Aspen also has 18-inch chrome-clad cast-aluminum wheels on the Signature Series Value Package. Also included in the Aspen Signature Series is MyGIGŪ multimedia entertainment system, which enables the user to listen to AM/FM, CD, MP3 and Sirius satellite radio, and also allows downloads from the MP3 player to the 20-GB hard drive. Both the leather-trimmed seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel come in two tones. |
| Safety features |
The electronic stability program (ESP) is one of the important safety features in the Aspen. The system senses when a vehicle is going to go into a spin, and tries to bring it back on course by automatically controlling the throttle while at the same time applying brakes on individual wheels. Chrysler says it has loaded the 2008 Aspen with as many as 30 safety features, including the ESP. |
